Get out and enjoy the sunshine at Lake Wyangan, located only a short drive from Griffith. Explore Lake Wyangan by cycling or walking with a gorgeous lake backdrop. The lake has a picnic area with a large grassed reserve to lay out a picnic rug in a shaded spot. There are barbecues to cook a delicious lunch with tranquil water scenery. The picnic area includes animal enclosures, home to hens, roosters, peacocks, geese, kangaroos and deers, making this an excellent spot to picnic and bring the kids. There is plenty of space to spread out and throw the frisbee or kick the footy and for the kids to run around and play. And, if you have a boat, head out onto the water to take it for a spin and explore the lake itself.

Visit the Cocoparra National Park all year round to spend time in nature in this beautiful nature reserve. There are plenty of walking and hiking trails to walk along and explore what the park has to offer. Take Jacks Creek or Mount Brogden walking tracks to see stunning views of the dramatic rock formations that are iconic to Cocoparra National Park. Within the park are many ancient Aboriginal sites that may be seen while exploring. If you're a bird watcher, bring your binoculars and other gear and come prepared to spot many species of birds that migrate through the park. There are various endangered woodland species that call the park home. Take the Falcon Falls or Mount Brogden walking tracks for excellent bird watching.

Head to the Griffith Rotary Market to purchase fresh local produce from local growers and makers. Every Sunday, you can find an array of seasonal produce, including fresh vegetables and fruits, as well as specialty foods. There are many pantry items made with local fresh ingredients that are well worth trying, including honey, olive oil, Italian biscuits, cakes, fresh bread, eggs, jams and relish. While there is primarily fresh produce, you may also find clothes, jewellery, candles, plants and, on occasion, livestock. The Griffith Rotary Market is worth checking out and picking up some produce to support the local community and make delicious meals with quality ingredients at home.
Go for a Ride
There is a range of tracks around Griffith that are perfect for cycling and seeing the area. Uncover the town and its surroundings on your bicycle through scenic trails and cycling paths. Starting with the track to Lake Wyangan, this is a newer and shorter ride of about 9 km one way. The Sub-Station Loop is a scenic loop that takes riders along farms on the east side of town; it is roughly 28 km. The tracks of Scenic Hill are rough dirt surface tracks. There are trails all over the hill that you can pick and choose from and see where you end up. These tracks can have loose dirt, so caution is encouraged. What are you waiting for? The Wine and Irrigation Building also shares the local wine industry and irrigation history. The museum also displays machinery, vehicles, and the main street of Bag Town 'Old Griffith'.
