Melton Botanic Garden

The Melton Botanic Gardens are an excellent spot to visit if you're in Melton. The gardens are maintained by volunteers called the Friends of the Melton Botanic Gardens and are a pride of the Melton community. Walk or ride around the trail that borders the lake and take in the well-manicured gardens. The gardens have a range of native flora and other plants from around the world, including over 100 species of dryland eucalypts. The Melton Botanic Gardens is fantastic for a picnic surrounded by nature, diverse flora and fauna and is a lovely spot to escape the buzz of everyday life. There is also a nursery on the grounds that offers many of the plants you can find within the gardens. So, if you see a plant you like, stop by the nursery and see if they have it in stock.

Eynesbury Market

There's no better way to spend a Sunday morning than at the market. The Eynesbury Market runs every 4th Sunday from 9 am to 2 pm and is the perfect spot to wander through and browse the stalls. There are many stalls offering fresh produce from farmers, locally made condiments, sauces, jams, freshly baked breads, homewares, fashion, accessories, crafts and art. You can pick up some groceries for the week or something special to try when you get home. Once you're done browsing, it's time to head over to the food vendors who are cooking up hot, mouthwatering eats that are hard to pass up. Add this one to the calendar for your next visit to Melton. Visit a Winery

Melton is surrounded by fabulous wineries that offer gorgeous vineyard scenery where you can stop by for a wine tasting and to enjoy some quality wine and food. A few standouts are Witchmount, a stunning vineyard with beautiful views where you can sample different wines, and they offer a range of dining options from casual dining in the cellar door and wine bar to private dining options. Another winery to consider visiting is the Round Rock Winery and the Round Rock Tap House. The tap house is a kid-friendly venue that cooks delicious pizzas and serves wine and beers. It is a great place for a casual dinner. There are many other wineries within the area and some a little further, too, so be sure to check out all the options before deciding where to go.

Go For a Ride

If you have your bike, then get out and go for a ride. There are many fantastic parks to ride through and see while in Melton. Riding through a new area is a wonderful way to get to know the area and see a different side that you may not otherwise experience. A few trails to consider are the Toolern Creek Trail, a 9.5km ride. This is a great route and is classed as an easy trail as it's mostly flat with some inclines. The next is the Melton Botanic Garden Loop, a 3.7km ride that ventures around the lake in the garden. Last but not least, the Navan Park Circuit, a 4km trail that loops through the wetlands and lakes of Navan Park. Each of these rides is scenic, with superb views.

Play a Round of Golf

Ready to play a round of golf? Head to the Melton Valley Golf Club to tee off. The Melton Valley Golf Club is a picturesque course perfect for golf enthusiasts. It's nestled within serene countryside landscapes and offers a challenging but enjoyable 18-holes. Wind your way carefully through the narrow fairways and arduous greens that rise and fall as you play from hole to hole. There are various hazards to pick your way through, including water hazards that test both experienced and casual golfers. This aesthetic country golf course is enjoyable for golfers of all skill levels.

Aintree Recreation Reserve

This one is for the kids. Aintree Recreation Reserve has many cool activities and play areas for the kids. Starting with the huge playground, with 3 massive slides, super tall climbing nets, a net tunnel to crawl through, a big swing, play elements you can spin on, and more. If you want to play some sports, there is a basketball court to shoot some hoops, cricket practice nets, two large ovals to kick the footy on or throw the frisbee, a tennis court if you feel like a hit and a skate park to practise your tricks. This enormous park area is excellent for exercise and fresh air while running around and having a terrific time with your kids.

Get the whole family involved in your next visit to the bowling alley. No matter your age or skill level, bowling is for everyone. Located in the heart of Melton, Xplosions Bar and Bowl is your next stop for family entertainment. Sink some pins in the lanes and spark friendly competition with your family. Once you have crowned the champion, head to the Modern & Retro Arcade, where you can race, test your skills and try your luck at old iconic arcade games or new ones. There is also a snack bar stocked with hot food, tasty treats and drinks, and a fully licensed bar.

A short drive from Melton is Xtreme Paintball, a paintball location ideal for a fun day out with friends or family. Fight the adrenaline rush as you hide within the paintball arena, dodging shots fired from the opposing team. Stay out of sight as you battle to camouflage yourself and stealthily attack the other team while protecting yours. Xtreme Paintball aims to offer an amazing paintball experience through the little touches they add to the paintball fields. Many fields are customised to include scenes from movies, video games and real wars to add an extra element to your play.  

Fishing at Melton Reservoir

Spend the day out at the Melton Reservoir fishing with the kids. Land fishing is permitted, and this is a great, kid-friendly spot, so if you have any budding anglers, this is the place to teach them the ropes and try your luck at catching a fish. You might find carp, Estuary Perch and Murray Cod within the reservoir, so grab your rods and head out to the Melton Reservoir.
